Continuing working with in Children’s residential care focusing upon Quality assurance , governance and development in line with Children’s home’s regulations 2015, the care standards and SCIFF. This is my 13th year in Children’s services and my second period of employment at channels and choices where all services are rated either good or outstanding with Ofsted, more than that we have a clear path for children going from residential care to fostering which is highly successful as well as striving for excellence in all aspects of children’s care and development.

Overseeing 3 children’s homes, at times 6 managers and most importantly 11/22 children from safeguarding aspects to care planning and assisting children transitioning from residential to the next stage of their journey. Assisting the RI and head of care with action planning and risk assessing around all aspects for social care. More recently I have qualified as a Team Teach Tutor and shall be teaching the next generation of residential support workers about de escalation , positive handling and more importantly about building relationships with children who have often never experienced a positive role model or relationship. Currently all our services are outstanding or good and have seen the implementation of service improving systems and mechanisms which are taking the service forward in the way it improves the lives of children.

Started as an RSW in 2011, swiftly moving up the ranks to include being a outstanding registered manager across four inspections, no recommendations or requirements before stepping into senior management over seeing up to 10 homes, managers and more importantly up to 44 children. Additionally I trained to level 5 in safeguarding and DSO and led on safeguarding for the residential service , in total 16 homes, 32 managers , 65 children and 150 staff. I left the organisation after 8 years and starting with just 1 home (6 children) growing to 16 homes, in excess of 57 children in placement with 5 outstanding homes, 10 goods and sadly 1 RI however more importantly than all of this all 57 children were excellently well cared for and most on course to transition back to family if appropriate or to foster care.
