As the Deputy Director, I support the Executive Director in the development of the annual budget, strategic planning initiatives, hiring of new employees, and overall agency productivity. I specialize in compliance by overseeing the authorization process for colleges and schools by managing the daily operations of the compliance staff. I ensure that timelines are being met, work product is consistent, and that Georgia law is upheld by the agency. I also continue to be the coordinator for the state of Georgia for the National Council for State Authorization Agreements (NC-SARA). NC-SARA is a national initiative which seeks to establish comparable national standards for the interstate offering of postsecondary distance-education courses and programs. My role within NC-SARA consists of managing the application and approval process for 86 participating institutions including all University System of Georgia and Technical College System of Georgia Institutions. As part of NC-SARA, I also serve on the Southern Regional Education Board SARA Steering Committee where I serve on the policy working group analyzing policy to ensure it meets the needs of all member states and participating institutions.

    • Division Director
      • Jul 2021 - Jul 2022

In direct support of the Executive Director, I managed the day-to-day activities of the compliance team which consisted of six regulatory specialist and one financial auditor. In this role I was responsible for the oversight of approximately 345 private higher education institutions in Georgia, and both public and private out-of-state institutions operating in Georgia. Additionally, my responsibilities included budget analysis, staff hiring, and agency process improvement initiatives. As the Division Director I ensured the highest standards were met for agency staff while they assisted Georgia institutions to become authorized to operate by reviewing annually, institutional policies, programs, personnel, facilities, and financial viability for students in the state of Georgia.

    • Program Manager
      • Aug 2018 - Jul 2021

In this role I ensured that each authorized nonpublic postsecondary educational institution doing business in Georgia was reviewed for financial soundness. I worked hand in hand with the Regulatory Specialist, Deputy Director, and Executive Director to monitor any deficiencies and communicate issues that could cause a closure due to financial instability. As the reviewing manager of financials for all authorized institutions I took the initiative to optimize the institution financial statement making it more efficient and easier to use for both institutions and agency staff. I also developed the outcome data report that enabled institutions to give metrics on student outcomes that were used to evaluate the institution during their evaluation process.

    • Standards Administrator
      • Aug 2012 - Aug 2018

This role focused on the enforcement of regulations in the nonpublic, higher education sector. As a Standards Administrator, now referred to as Regulatory Specialist, I was responsible for assessing applications for institutional and programmatic approval. I oversaw the compliance of 60 institutions, all of which required oversight and assistance to ensure that prescribed standards, laws, policies, and physical site inspection standards were met. As a Standards Administrators I also made determinations relative to complaints filed by students. In conjunction with institutional evaluation, I was tasked with managing multiple organizational change management projects within the agency. The most notable organizational changes I helped to implement included the transition to online applications from paper submissions, the development of an integrated online database, and the content management of the agency website.
