Many people are already fully aware of Adam Gerber’s credentials and why any organization would be fortunate to have him. I can’t say enough good things about Adam. Still, in the interest of brevity, I will try to keep his praises to as bare a minimum as possible. Adam and I were in the same cohort in the Columbia University Strategic Communication master’s degree program. As a result, I have had the immense pleasure of working directly with him on several projects, seeing firsthand his incredible communication skills and leadership abilities. Adam has a natural talent for making complex ideas accessible and engaging through exceptional writing and the ability to weave a compelling narrative that pulls in his audience. His genuine personality only enhances his ability to communicate effectively. One of the things I admire most about Adam is his authenticity. He is fun, funny, and, above all, authentic. Adam’s authenticity is his superpower and makes him a powerhouse leader and team member. He inspires those around him to be their best selves, making everyone around him feel valued and included. This superpower is on full display in his storytelling. I’ve witnessed Adam artfully weave emotion through his words, adding layers of thoughtful imagery, humor, and conflict. As the student speaker at the 2022 commencement, his words inspired tears of joy and revelation in the crowd, mine included. It was an honor to witness. During our capstone project’s client pitch presentation, Adam flexed his considerable storytelling muscles again to help sell our recommendations. Adam is a natural leader whose style encourages differences of opinion, thoughtful debate, and honest contemplation. His incredible ability to listen to people, offer solutions to problems, and keep everyone working together toward a shared goal is a standout skill. In his collaborative approach to leadership, Adam can guide a team toward success with a clear vision and strategic thinking. As quick to defend his ideas as he is to support those of others on his team, Adam has a positive outlook on conflict that makes people feel heard. Every moment is a chance to learn and to come out stronger. His effervescent approach to most things brings excitement to even the most frustrating moments. As a collaborator, Adam is a dream. He’s open-minded, confidently accepting help when needed, and quickly offering support when he can. Moreover, Adam is not scared to cast an opposing thought. Still, even when we’ve disagreed, he’s always been the epitome of respectful discourse, with discussions resulting in a better idea or, at least, a better understanding. As I said, I can’t say enough good things about Adam. So, while I may have broken my initial promise to keep my praise to a minimum, it was worth it to have the chance to write out just some of the things I think make Adam an extraordinary person. Undoubtedly, he’s a valuable addition to any organization lucky enough to have him.

As the primary advisor for the SPS Student Government, I’ve observed Adam’s leadership and involvement with the group. Adam was fortunate to hold a leadership position throughout his time at SPS stepping up in multiple leadership positions. Over this time, Adam has built on his leadership skills, taking challenges from past experiences to make the institution better. As the school’s Student Government President, the top regarded leadership position, Adam mastered the balance of peer, leader, and student with his fellow students, staff, and administration. He demonstrated an innate ability to connect with people, regardless of their background or position, and convey things exactly as needed. His personable yet professional personality combined with his critical thinking skills are an appealing juxtaposition that honestly, people find inspiring. I’m at a loss for words are how to even begin, there is so much Adam has done for SPS and the Columbia community. I am so proud to have advised such a great human and leader.
