A not for profit working with public services on systemic approaches to complex social issues: taking a more joined up, preventative and equitable approach and moving away from 'markets, metrics and managers'. I also lead on strategic communications, including delivering a new website and media strategy. An internationally recognised pioneer in redefining local media, through 100% community ownership, public interest journalism and innovative methods of community engagement. As co-founder, my responsibilities have been varied and include: Strategy, project management and operations: Team leadership and structure, strategic processes, facilitation, coaching and budget development. Managing editor: Editorial strategy, commissioning and contributing in multimedia as part of a 5 person team to produce online content and a quarterly print of 30,000 circulation. My investigations have contributed to policy changes on housing issues and debt collection by local government, as well as calls by leading lawyers and politicians for changes to immigration enforcement practises at a national level. An editorial campaign I led on local authority use of bailiffs was shortlisted for British Journalism Award 2018 Campaign of the Year. In 2019 an investigation I led that sparked a modern slavery prosecution was awarded the British Journalism Award for local journalism and was shortlisted for an Orwell Prize 2020. Membership growth, communications and community engagement: Leading on initiatives to grow and democratically engage 3,00+ paying members, incorporating product and tech. Fundraising and partnerships: Led on successfully raising over £1.3 million in grant funding and building networks and profile in media, academic and government circles. Community organising and events: Developed partnerships with local community radio, schools, youth groups, universities, charities and organised large public events. Show less
