My team's remit involved managing the underlying technology roadmap behind in-store and online payments acceptance, mobile payments, payments security and compliance (PCI) and fraud prevention, My role eventually became a rare hybrid of business strategy, innovation and product management. Highlights: - Built a payments product team / function completely from scratch - In 2 years completely changed the perception of payments at Sainsbury’s – from being seen as a nuisance or afterthought to becoming one of the CEO’s top 5 strategic objectives with a multi-million-pound delivery budget - Devised an overarching payments strategy for the Sainsbury's Group - Implemented contactless / NFC technology at Sainsbury’s and deployed new payment methods like Apple Pay, Android Pay or PayPal across the Sainsbury’s Group trading channels - Part of the team that delivered Chop Chop – Sainsbury’s 60 min grocery delivery app. I was responsible for designing its unique end-to-end payment solution => http://chopchopapp.co.uk/ - Initiated and led the P2PE (Point to Point Encryption) implementation project for Sainsbury's - one of the largest re-platformings of in-store payments acceptance technology in the UK, with the overarching objective of improving payment security and reducing the company's PCI scope (and saving millions of pounds in the process) - Championed multiple opportunities related to payment initiation (PISP) as part of the introduction of PSD2 / Open Banking in the UK - Drove several mobile app development projects with an aim to improve the overall in-store checkout experience
