Having retired from a professional rugby career of 15 years I wanted to give something back to the game which has given me so much.I was offered the opportunity to become head coach of Cinderford RFC where I work alongside an amazing coaching group including a director of rugby . When asked what makes coaching successful? The answer is through the culture which is created by all involved whilst having s special group of players who are coachable and are player Driven. In 2016 Cinderford were relegated to National 2 South now in 2018 we return to National 1 having secured promotion as National 2 Champions. Not only was promotion acheived which is a credit to all involved but also to set a new record for National 2 for total points 143 out of a possible 150 and to only lose one game all season is a true reflection on how hard all of our players consistantely work. The 2018 season is going to be exciting for all involved..

Tony Copsey... Adam joined London Welsh in november 2012 after taking a short break from the game. Renowned for his direct and physical approach in his style of play it was not long before he made a positive impact at London Welsh. His wealth of experience that he brings which is reflected by his current rugby CV is beneficial to any team or organisation. He is equally comfortable playing right across the back row although he came to us as no8, his professional attitude which he conducts both on an off the field makes him a real example to the younger player. Having worked with Adam he is a true leader within the squad and you can never question his endeavour or commitment to the cause. I would like to wish Adam every success moving forward wherever that journey may take him and I look forward to his progress with great interest. Kind Regards, Tony Copsey CEO London Welsh.

References John Wells – Tel. “ To whom it may concern My name is John Wells. I am a professional rugby union coach working for Newcastle Falcons rugby club. I was first introduced to Adam Balding in 1998 when he joined Leicester Tigers rugby club and at the time I was the Leicester Forwards coach. I continued to coach Adam at Leicester and also at England Saxons level until he left Leicester in 2004. In February 2012 Adam joined Newcastle Falcons and I have been his coach for the last 4 months. At all times I have found Adam to be extremely conscientious, honest, reliable and hard working. I find him diligent, a willing leader and extremely professional in what is a very tough working environment. Away from the training ground he is supportive, possessing good communication skills and is an excellent team man. Adam would be a tremendous asset to any team or company and has my highest recommendation. If you have any further questions with regard to Adam please do not hesitate to call me. Yours faithfully, John Wells Forwards Coach Newcastle Falcons Rugby Ltd

Mike Ford Bath Rugby.. - “During my 5 months at Newcastle Falcons as a defence coach I had the good fortune to coach Adam. Adam's strength was without question his defence, his ability to read the game, make the right decision and then execute the tackled constantly at the highest level made him invaluable. His knowledge of the game and more importantly his understanding of implementing a game plan made him a leader of men and a natural choice to be Newcastle's defensive captain every time he played for his club. His discipline, work ethic & unselfish attitude to help his fellow team mates which stood him out from the rest. There is no question Adam Balding would have a positive impact in any organisation as a player and leader!.” Mike Ford (Bath Rugby Club)
