Proposed, designed and developed an MS Access database to centralize reporting for a group of funds. Previous reporting was a full time job of manually compiled Excel spreadsheets. The database project read in data from external sources and complied an excel spreadsheet in minutes with the added functionality of fund analysis over time. Wrote some command line scripts for the traders to find miskeyed stock. Previously, this task was also a full time manual job. Developed a number of MS Access databases for a variety of projects for the claims department one of which was the development of an employee productivity database originally designed for my own use, which was adopted by the claims department resulting in a cut in the work required from unit leaders from a previously all paper, all day task to a few hours of data entry with the increase functionality of tracking and reporting over a variety of criteria. Other database projects were key in the recognition and quantification of bottlenecks in the claims processing system and the development of practices to eliminate “problem claims”. Led a team of 7 employees while on these projects. Show less
