Duties and Responsibilities: Check site conditions for suitability prior to construction. Observe, check and record works execution is in accordance with approved methods. Check instructions are being carried out. Check services locations and ensure their protection. Record inspections, test, work executed etc. Check material delivered are as approved and properly stored. Observe site safety procedures. Measure work done when required. Assist in the preparation of ‘as-built’ drawings. Have knowledge and skills in using relevant computer software. Act positively, and participate in all health and safety issues at site, as required by the Resident Engineer, and project Safety Representative. Repairing road surfaces using asphalt mixes and forming road base and sub-base layers. Coordinating work with contractors who specialize in asphalt and road construction. Supervising the work site to ensure that construction is done in accordance with technical specifications and drawings. Ensuring that safety measures are implemented and maintained on the site. Supervising the laying of kerb stone, interlock, and asphalt. Checking trenches prior to the bedding material to ensure proper preparation. Witnessing and following relevant tests, such as field density tests. Checking aggregate sub-base, aggregate roadbase, and wet mix macadam layer by layer to ensure compliance with specifications. Checking prime coat MC 70 and tack coat. Checking base course asphalt, binder course asphalt, and wearing course asphalt.
