As Vice Chair of our University Senate, I worked closely with Allison. She is someone who aims to please, can suggest creative solutions to problems and follows through on projects she is given. She is a pleasure to work with.

I served as Secretary of the San Diego State University Senate during much of Allison's tenure in that position, and I sat on the committee that hired her. This position is one that requires a deal of independent thought and action, as supervision from faculty who serve as elected Senate officers is minimal. Allison grew into the job nicely. She learned about the university environment and its methods of operating, she became interested in the operations of the campus, and she was intimately involved in the structure of shared governance on which San Diego State prides itself. Besides serving as administrator for the Senate, Allison assisted the officers in managing the work of a large number of committees and coordinated the flow of information and policy through the Senate process. She learned the operations of a central content management system and maintained the Senate website, which is a repository of current and archival information about governance. Always efficient, Allison became more detail oriented as she progressed. She voluntarily accompanied the officers to campus meetings so as to be aware of the issues with which the Senate was dealing. Most tellingly, she led the officers through the difficult process of having her own position reclassified to reflect the higher level of thinking, writing, and managing that she was actually performing. During this period, Allison completed a master's degree in Homeland Security. She is now seeking employment in this field. We will miss her steady hand in the Senate office, but we know that her next employer will benefit from the time she has spent as the Senate's administrator.
