"She is highly driven, smart, intelligent and confident. Abigail is enthusiastic about design and puts 100% into the briefs she works. For one so young, she demonstrated a high level of professionalism and commitment to her work. Outside of the office, she wasn’t shy in sharing her extra-curricular hobbies and activities with others and encouraging us to get involved in some of them." - Simon Jerome "She is highly driven, smart, intelligent and confident. 2.5 weeks Freelance Designer Reference: ‘I only worked with Abi briefly, but it was a project of huge significance to my client. I was impressed that although new to the industry she had both a high skill level but, more importantly, a calm, confident attitude, even when dealing directly with clients. Finally, even though Abi was just freelancing, she showed a real dedication to the project often working late to make the deadlines.’ Andy Smith Founding Partner & Company Show less

Assisting on production of THEUNSEEN's various projects and products I was able to refine my making skills along with develop a working knowledge of the inner workings of a studio. Designing graphics, editing photography and making print work - such as postcards that can be found in their shop - I also gained experience in creating print work and graphics. Helping with general studio administration (ExCel spreadsheets/chimpmail) and events I also developed my confidence by interviewing potential interns. Show less

Intern
-
Sep 2014 - Dec 2014
Interning with one of the designers I admire most my time with Lucy McRae centered around preparation, participation and post production for her exhibition for Dezeen during the London Design Festival 2014. Creating the graphics for the event - business cards and participation forms - assisted my confidence in my print work capabilities. Being a part of the installation team during LDF14 I was able to interact with designers and the public alike. Featuring in the publicity photos for the project - used as press photos at a later date - along with explaining the project to visitors during Lucy's absence from the space, I was able to develop my public speaking skills. Intern
-
Jun 2014 - Aug 2014
During my two months at Universal Design Studio the two main skills I developed working at this lively and busy studio was organization and architectural model making. Assigned the material's library, I was asked to organize the large collection of various materials the studio used for mood boards and meetings. Thanks to this, I now have a better understanding of a variety of materials along with how to present them to a client in an aesthetically please manor. Having never made an architectural model before I threw myself into the challenge and created some pieces that I am very proud of. Receiving a compliment on the craftsmanship from Jay Osgerby on the 1:50 architectural model I created for one of his larger clients - confidentiality restricts the amount of detail I can give on this project. Internship
-
Aug 2011 - Aug 2011
During this two week internship with Tatty Devine I was given the opportunity to work with their making team in their Kent based space. Learning how collections where constructed by hand, cleaned and packaged for shipping was an experience I found very inspiring. As the company begun as a small market stall and seeing how large their company is from the inside, this experience was one I feel developed my understanding of company growth. Making jewellery developed my crafting skills and understanding of how small detailed pieces are created. Skills I learnt during this internship included; - how to use pliers - how to make jewellery to a high standard - how to clean and protect plastics - Interesting methods fixing parts together Show less
