Linbrooke provides specialist projects in rail, power and optical networks in which I support in the production of documentation to fulfil the requirements of NR/L2/ENV/015, manage the organisations ISO14001 & 50001 certifications, and lead the organisations CSR and environmental strategy and objectives. I provide environmental and sustainability support to the organisation in response to key issues as well as through internal audits and data reporting. I lead all waste, water and energy management projects, and attend various collaborative meetings, such as RISF, ensuring compliance to legislative and client requirements and providing environmental and support for bid responses. At Arriva Rail London I am responsible for the environmental management and performance of ARL including their ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and Carbon Trust Triple Standard certification. My time sees me leading the company’s environmental strategy aiming to achieve a truly sustainable transport system, as well as overseeing operational functions such as ensuring compliance with concession obligations, legal requirements, and various waste, water and energy management projects. I engage with all levels of the business and build relationships with various stakeholders including TfL, RSSB, and Arriva Group on a daily basis to encourage improved environmental performance including executive level staff engagement to influence a sustainable strategic direction of the business. Environmental Advisor

At Arriva UK Bus I supported 7 different operating companies in increasing their sustainability and reducing their environmental impact through internal auditing, implementation of management systems, waste, energy and water management as well as staff engagement campaigns. I worked towards ambitious environmental targets as the company sought to minimise pollution and reduce fuel, energy and water usage as well as our waste to landfill. During my time at the company recycling rates increased by over 10%, and energy usage decreased by 13% leading to quarterly savings of over £50,000. I also lead the creation and implementation of the company's environmental management system which was ISO 14001 accredited. The role also saw me collaborate with a wide range of business aspects such as internal communications, marketing, properties and procurement as well as external stakeholders such as local universities and researchers. Initially my work for WSP began as an extention to my masters dissertation researching practical solutions to increasing urban sustainability through increasing green infrastructure in order to reduce negative environmental impacts of urban life. My 10 week voluntary placement was extended into a paid position to produce a white paper on my research which would eventually be presented at the City Hall, London on 2nd October 2017 which was presented in collaboration with Leonie Cooper, Labour’s City Hall lead on Environment & Energy, and Chair of the London Assembly's Environment Committee. I worked within this prestigious Environmental Consultancy on a voluntary basis to gain experience within this field for a period of 2 months. I was able to gain practical knowledge in many areas of environmental consultancy including carbon management and ISO14001:2015. I also worked with the EcoCampus team and produced various documents and reports for them including a Climate Change Risk Assessment and a Climate Change Adaptation Policy. Working within this organisation gave me an invaluable understanding of how sustainability can be achieved in various different organisations and how a successful Environmental Consultancy functions. Conservation Research Assistant

Completed a full time, un-paid year-long placement at Nottinghamshire County Council. I worked within three different teams of the “Countryside and Conservation” department of the county council. Gained experience in working with high levels of public interaction, producing reports, working to deadlines, data collection and interpretation. Received training in GIS mapping systems, environmental report writing, conservation techniques, land management practices and environmental impact assessment. This placement allowed me to demonstrate my organisation, punctuality, commitment and enthusiasm and use my academic ability to become an asset to the company and contribute positively. This placement also gave me an opportunity to gain experience in public interaction, including helping to supervise training days for both adults and children, as well as weekly task days for Conservation Volunteers.
