Northbridge, Western Australia, Australia Working with the talented Centre for Stories team, my internship centred around all areas of production and marketing for the international literary journal Portside Review. My main tasks included reviewing Portside Review submissions and providing editorial feedback on those that were accepted; liaising with authors via email; proofreading submissions; writing copy for Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn; writing newsletters; creating graphics on Canva as well as assisting with website design and development. With such a wide variety of tasks that changed week-to-week, working at Centre for Stories has taught me the importance of adapting to new challenges as they come. Though keeping detailed to-do lists has kept me on track, I have learnt to not be shy of asking questions or seeking advice from my co-workers. To date, I have assisted in the release of Issue Six, Seven and Eight of Portside Review. Additionally, I am honoured to be one of the Issue Seven contributors, having put together a sound piece about the villainisation of women in ghost stories. Show less

Bentley, Perth, Western Australia Starting as an editor for Curtin Writers Club back in 2020, I fell in love with this locally grown literary organisation and their publication Coze, and wanted to help it blossom. As Curtin Writers Club's Editor-in-Chief for 2022, my tasks have been varied, ranging from: 1) Creating and overseeing the production timeline for Coze 2022; 2) Managing submissions and running editorial meetings; 3) Updating our House Style Guide; 4) Creating a comprehensive 10,000-word… Show more Starting as an editor for Curtin Writers Club back in 2020, I fell in love with this locally grown literary organisation and their publication Coze, and wanted to help it blossom. Volunteering at Curtin Writers Club is what ignited my passion to pursue a career in the publishing industry. I love the collaboration that publishing fosters, where like-minded creatives come together, pouring their time and energy into creating a literary work of art. Over my time with CWC, I have proofread over 80 submissions, been the assigned editor for 14 submissions, sent over 700 emails as Editor-in-Chief, and overseen our largest editorial team to date. I look forward to celebrating the publication of Coze's sixth issue in February 2023. I have previously been published in Coze 2021 and the upcoming Coze 2022. Show less

Additionally, I wrote and updated news articles for Curtin's OASIS homepage, assisted in creating monthly reports to analyse the engagement on our Instagram posts and provided support to other team members. I loved how diverse this role was, giving me the opportunity to learn what it takes to brainstorm, create and execute engaging content. Over my time in the Digital Student Engagement team, I have written over 20 OASIS news articles and over 30 long-form Instagram captions, with one of my recent student profile captions having performed 95% better than other content released on the @curtinlifeaustralia Instagram account that month.
