This role involves being in charge of all the activities and events that happen in Towers Hall at Loughborough University. The hall is residence to 310 students, with 2/3 of these being freshers. As a hall chair I organise 2 weeks of freshers events, including all the nights out, daily activities and sober events. These events had a strict schedule and often involved moving large groups of students from one venue to another.Other events that are organised throughout the year include the Summer/Winter Ball and End of Year Summer Party, these all involve meeting with venue managers and external companies to organise large socials. This all also involves managing the £30,000 budget that we have to spend across different aspects and sections of the committee for the students and giving them the best university experience.Furthermore, I oversee everything that all the members of the committee are doing and making sure they are giving our students the best experience and chances to get involved with everything the university has to offer e.g. raising money, volunteering, sporting competitions etc. Having professional relationships with the Warden team and exec members at the university is also an important part of the role, and making sure that all committee members are abiding by the regulations of the hall and university. I have had to work alongside all different types of people and often fill in on roles that has pushed me to teach myself new skills, for example, photoshop and video editing software. Show less

As part of my Sports leaders Level 2 Community Award I volunteered at an old peoples home for around 10 weeks, visiting every friday. My role was to get the residence to try something new and be active, we played games such as Boccia and other seated games and also tried some seated exercise/dancing. This role taught me how to adapt my leadership skills from children right through to elderly people. I learnt how to adapt to new situations that I'd never been in before.
