Provide educational, advocacy, and emotional support to birthing individuals and families throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. My goal is to help clients maintain a sense of control, comfort, and confidence and support their ability to make informed decisions. I offer patients evidence-based coping strategies, provide techniques for physical positioning, and create space to make sure they can ask questions, gather information, and make decisions without feeling pressured. I spend a cumulative of 12-36 hours with each client/family, including at the hospital through labor, delivery, and 2-3 hours postpartum. Show less

Investigated how music can be integrated clinically into trauma-informed care frameworks to improve the health of patients and providers and enhance clinician-patient relationships. Our work built upon existing trauma-informed care paradigms and proposed new clinical interventions. Trauma-informed care (TIC) recognizes the health impacts of trauma and responds by integrating knowledge about trauma into clinical practices. I helped develop materials to educate students and providers about TIC and integrate TIC approaches into their own clinical practices. For example, I assisted in the creation of a video simulation series contrasting trauma-informed clinical practices with standard practices, for Harvard Medical School’s first-year curriculum. I also helped develop resources for patients such as a patient brochure offering strategies for sharing trauma experiences with providers and techniques for increasing feelings of comfort and control in clinical interactions. Leveraged academic insights in behavioral economics, cognitive science, and psychology in order to understand social problems and create solutions rooted in behavioral science. I led and collaborated on projects in the US, Mexico, Venezuela, Sudan, and Madagascar with partner organizations including the World Bank and Planned Parenthood. These projects exposed me to a range of social problems in healthcare and finance. Over the course of 3 years, I conducted more than 10 international research trips, created designs reaching over 100k people, conducted over 400 qualitative interviews, and led 3 randomized controlled trials. Example projects: Planned Parenthood, Venezuela: Designed and evaluated patient- and provider-facing interventions at health clinics. Created tools for providers to make efficient referrals for patients experiencing gender based violence. Collaborated with survivors of gender based violence to develop testimonial videos and posters to inspire others to seek support. World Bank, Madagascar: Created a behaviorally-informed financial health program for >100,000 participants of government welfare program. Led two research trips to conduct qualitative research, gather quantitative data, and test designs. Presented results to Senior Officials at the World Bank. CAME, Mexico: Developed a program to increase saving amongst low- and middle-income microentrepeneurs with a large microfinance institution. Interviewed >100 microentrepeneurs, in Spanish, to better understand financial behavior. Show less
