We, at Coshal, are working towards engaging small scale artists practising Dhokra art from the interior areas of Bastar, Chhattisgarh. We intend to create a platform from where artisans can get proper guidance by the mentors and can turn their passion into profession successfully. We want to ensure that equal opportunities are provided to the artisans. We plan to widen our reach through the innovation of the artefacts in order to increase their aesthetic value and marketability. We intend to create a platform from where artisans can get proper guidance by the mentors and can turn their passion into profession successfully. We would also like to delve into different art forms across the country and work towards uplifting and empowering the artists in the near future.

We come from, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. A state which newly stepped into teenage. As a newly formed state, it needs many developments. Few synonyms of development are awareness and inclusive education. In our state, we have observed severe problems of lack of awareness and proper standard learning and education amongst women and children. We have seen women and girls, who have lost their parents, got widowed, remained unmarried or divorced and made to separate. They struggle to earn a livelihood… Show more We come from, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. A state which newly stepped into teenage. As a newly formed state, it needs many developments. Few synonyms of development are awareness and inclusive education. In our state, we have observed severe problems of lack of awareness and proper standard learning and education amongst women and children. We have seen women and girls, who have lost their parents, got widowed, remained unmarried or divorced and made to separate. They struggle to earn a livelihood. What basically they can earn is either by learning skills like stitching, preparing homemade products, cosmetic industry skills, etc. Such training programmes haven’t been able to deliver at most. We are planning to train such isolated or challenged women with a very different tool. The tool of learning and educating. We want to create a team of learned women. We have established this NGO-Skills Shala with a purpose to empower marginalized women in our society. We plan to train these women from districts blocks the skills of English language written and spoken and then establish a language clinic where they will teach marginalised children and earn a livelihood.
