  During my time here, I gained first-hand experience of the American healthcare system. I shadowed physicians in the Internal Medicine Service, as well as in the departments of Gastroenterology, Cardiology, and Pulmonology/ICU. I had the opportunity to accompany physicians during inpatient consultations and also observed several diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as colonoscopies, EGDs, cardiac catheterizations, bronchoscopies, and EBUS. I also followed several advanced practice providers, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants, and was exposed to notetaking, reading patient charts, and ordering and interpreting labs and studies in the Cerner EMR system.   As part of the Public Relations team, I helped facilitate and maximize positive coverage of the 44th International Chess Olympiad conducted in Chennai, India, by coordinating with regional, national and international media outlets. I was also involved in handling venue logistics, as well as playing hall and spectator management. This position provided me the opportunity to interact and work with chess players, arbiters, photographers and journalists from across the globe.
