(https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/media/press-releases/2019/january/automatic-braking-system-for-trams-to-be-installed-this-year) - Contact Force Measurement Equipment: Comissioned and developed continuous operational support for DB Systemtechnik's contact force measurement system to Network Rail's MENTOR test vehicle. As part of this I provided face to face training to operators, system maintainers and team leaders. Delivered the mechanical integration design and managed installation of the above system within a Class 390 passenger train to monitor pantograph / OLE interaction during normal operational service. Consultancy Projects: - Evaluated the behaviour of Wheel Slide Protection systems to optimize the braking performance of various new and retrofitted rolling stock against EN15595 and GM/GN2695 in DB ESG’s Wheel Slide Protection Evaluation Rig (WSPER). Streamlined internal processes significantly decreasing effort to produce reports, and implemented new simulation methods aiding the development of the independent test rig to further its functions. - Evaluated pantograph behaviour and led homologation tests for new build vehicles (Class 80X). Delivered test runs prior commissioning the new OHLE between Reading and Bristol - working together with Atkins and Network Rail to increase the safe speed limit at Steventon Bridge. (Press Release: Rail Engineer, Issue 182, March 2020, Page 58-61) - Developed remote condition monitoring solutions using LoRa and RFID technologies in railway environment for a major ROSCO. - Supporting consultancy work producing several technical feasibility studies / TCP letters / structural assessments. Further driving the development and enhancement of the WSPER facility, and improving the testing/evaluating processes for OEM equipment.
