Curtin Mechanical Society (CMS) is a club centred around mechanical engineering pathways which extend past oil, mining and gas. Being the only non-project based mechanical engineering club at Curtin, CMS aims to educate student engineers on the various pathways the mechanical engineering degree can take them such as renewable energy, manufacturing and design, building services, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. CMS offers networking events to connect students with these industries and workshops which teach computer aided design software's which are required in industry, but not taught at Curtin. As a committee members, we are in charge of organising all events, marketing and running the entire club. Show less

Curtin EWB is the Curtin Student Chapter of Engineers Without Borders Australia. EWB envisages a world where everyone has access to the engineering knowledge and resources required to lead a life of opportunity, free from poverty. EWB connects, educates and empowers people through humanitarian engineering. Humanitarian engineering uses a people centred, strength based approach to improve community health, well-being and opportunity. At Curtin, EWB runs a hugely successful School Outreach Program in conjunction with UWA and ECU. As a volunteer for the youth outreach program, we are the ones that will go from school to school, giving presentations about humanitarian engineering. Along with this we facilitate networking, skills development, social events, as well as much more. Show less

Although my field of study is mechanical engineering, I had the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of structural engineering due to being a part of a team of structural/mechanical engineers where we were involved in the planning, designing and execution of mining structures. I was given an individual task of studying AS1657 to replicate the stair and crusher design for a Rio Tinto mining project in Guddai-darri using softwares like ProSteel and NavisWorks. Interpreting and making engineering drawings of structures are not burdensome for me. Show less
