    • Chief Technology Officer & Co-founder
      • Aug 2012 - Present

I co-founded a Christian humanitarian engineering non-profit, Design Outreach. I have co-managed a diversified professional volunteer team in developing an innovative clean water solution, the LifePump (www.lifepump.org). We developed partnerships with implementing partners World Vision and Water for Good to field-test and pilot the LifePump, ensuring a sustainable and scalable solution. We built organizational capacity for Design Outreach by building and shaping the board of directors, development (fundraising) and commercialization teams. I have also helped guide the board in defining and refining the vision and mission of Design Outreach and communicated this message through important speaking engagements such as TEDx and also through relationship building with key partners. I led technical teams in development of Attune line extension products. I collaborated with internal and external research partners to generate evidence needed to support the new product development process, and also regulatory and marketing strategies. I provided technical support for registration of Attune knee system in OUS markets

    • Sr. Project Engineer
      • Sep 2006 - Aug 2013

I worked on the development of the patella and femoral implants and patella instrumentation for the Attune Knee System and was able to make significant contributions in these areas (see publication and patents). Throughout the project I conducted voice of the customer (VOC) activities, collaborated with outside research institutions to evaluate new design concepts, designed and implemented intra-operative studies, and utilized explicit finite element analysis (FEA) and probabilistic methods to analyze performance of the implants. I also delivered high impact presentations to audiences of surgeons and sales consultants to support the commercial launch of the Attune Knee System. Additionally, I was responsible for supporting surgeon training sessions and labs, providing on-going engineering support for commercialized knee systems, and providing technical support for CE mark up-classification. I also led project to launch line extensions for the LCS RPS and Sigma HP instruments and completed intellectual property landscape review for an upcoming project. Show less

    • Project Engineer
      • Aug 2003 - Sep 2006

I led a design project to consolidate and simplify DePuy’s Knee Revision portfolio, which resulted in improved options for revision surgeries across all of DePuy’s knee brands and over 20% revision sales growth for over five years. During this project I applied design of experiments (DOE) and FEA to increase the strength of modular connections, and planned the testing strategy and collaborated with the mechanical test lab to implement. Additionally, I had sustaining engineering responsibilities such as presenting technical product information at sales training meetings, supporting surgeon training sessions and labs, and providing on-going engineering support for commercialized knee systems Show less

    • Product Development Engineer
      • May 2001 - Aug 2003

I led a project to develop new revision femoral components, trials, and a new line of revision stems for LCS Complete Modular Knee System. I prepared 510(k) submission for metal backed unicondylar tibial trays, and partnered with suppliers to design instrument cases.
