Engagement: • Building strong relationships with new and existing HRMI Ambassadors in the Pacific. Facilitating ongoing talanoa. • Liaising between the HRMI team and Pacific Ambassadors. • Working with HRMI’s Survey Engagement and Operations Lead to support the engagement of Pacific survey respondents in the lead up to and during the annual expert survey period. • Capacity-building of human rights practitioners, advocates, civil society organisations, government advisors, and other potential data users across the region, for example, through data training workshops. Engaging them in an ongoing dialogue and interaction about HRMI’s work and human rights data. • Running or supporting HRMI Ambassadors to run workshops and events. • Organising and running HRMI's annual Pacific Data Launch webinar, to launch the new Pacific scores for the year. Data: • Providing advice on the ongoing design and re-design of the Pacific module of the HRMI expert survey through engagement with regional partners and stakeholders. • Developing region-wide relationships with researchers and academics interested in human rights data in the Pacific. • Ensuring data integrity is maintained in line with Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles contextualised to the Pacific, and feeding into a new HRMI Data Integrity Policy. • In April – May 2023, producing summaries of the Pacific Module qualitative data collected in the survey, with support from a Research Assistant, for publication on the Rights Tracker.

The role was central to ensuring strong collaboration and partnership with Pacific Island States to raise the UK’s global ambition and action on climate change in line with UK’s presidency and the hosting role of COP26 in November 2021. As the CDF intern, I was expected to support the implementation of a number of projects to raise awareness in the region of key issues relating to climate change through the Climate Diplomacy Fund that would also highlight Pacific needs and priorities. In extension, the role also maximized communication impact and visibility of the UK government through the posts in the region.
