Internship
-
Jun 2014 - Aug 2014
During my training I was assigned to four different departments ,the quality control department, the planning department, the document control department and the transportation department. We also went to the warehouse twice a week to observe different logistics functions such as cross docking etc. I was given a variety of tasks which included understanding the shipping requirements(different paperwork involved, activities that take place at the port), daily K.P.I. reports, capacity planning, types of loading and unloading machinery used, understanding the types of buyer supplier relationships, how to plan and make schedules for receiving shipments in order to make the most efficient utilization of labor and other resources and docking issues. What i learned most from this experience was how much DHL depends on teamwork and transparency from all departments in order for its operations to run smoothly and that loyalty to a company matters because it makes the person work harder then they usually would. Also, what we learned at the college was quite different then what we experienced during our internship period.
