      In 2019, I had the opportunity to compete in creative writing for the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) both on a local and national level representing the NAACP of Dane County Branch #36AB. I was selected to compete in ACT-SO after my story, “The Ugly Cow,” placed first in the Madison Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. writing competition. Through ACT-SO, I worked with mentors to improve my piece and presentation.
