The Country Consortium Coordinator, the Dutch Consortium for Rehabilitation (DCR) in Sudan. Coordinated the implementation of the consortium program in Sudan – one of six African countries where the same program is being implemented through a similar consortium. The consortium in Sudan included two international NGOs and seven National NGOs. Coordination included working with the state governments of two states in Darfur; South Darfur and East Darfur. The DCR Country Coordinator was also the secretary of the Sudan DCR Steering Committee which decided on program strategic and managerial issues. As a team member, I facilitated the processes that led to the return of CARE into Sudan after the government ordered the expulsion of 16 NGOs from the country in March 2009. The process involved working from Nairobi to close old programs, apply for new ones and convincing the Sudan embassy to issue entry visas to members of the team. Once inside the Sudan, I have participated in the pre-entry assessment to identify where CARE should work in Sudan and negotiated agreements with the Sudan government. I have also established, recruited staff and managed the South Kordofan State (The Nuba Mountains) office of CARE for two years with 27 staff. I have led the implementation of a livelihood program to the satisfaction of the beneficiaries, CO and donor. The program recruited and trained local partners that helped in the implementation and in easing outreach to the communities. When the war started in June 2011, I managed the evacuation of the team, secured materials and facilitated the development of an emergency program for South Kordofan and got two programs successfully funded. .
