Program coordinator Intern
-
May 2018 - May 2019
I work as a Program Coordinator Intern where I am responsible for researching, planning, coordinating, scheduling and facilitating all of the education programs for the students who visit the RLRHC. I have also been the spearhead on many special events at the RLRHC such as a Christmas fun day, Nature Trading day, and most recently a Valentine’s Day sentiments for seniors event. I have experience working and supporting volunteers as well as excellent customer service skills. During the summer I researched, developed, and facilitated four successful summer programs for groups of up to twenty children. In addition to coordinating programs, I have also gained experience in creating, distributing, and analyzing surveys. I have met with and distributed surveys to all schools in the Red Lake area in an effort to understand what type of programming they would like to see at our facility. T

Educational Programming Student
-
Feb 2017 - Dec 2017
While attending college, I worked as a Student Programs Assistant at the Canadian Museum of History . In this position I assisted with the development of two educational programs. I also assisted with the development of 9 in gallery animations from the conceptual stage to the evaluation stage. I have worked closely with the School Programs Officer and on occasion, learning specialists. In my role as programming assistant I would coordinate with teachers in the community to test our programs in their classroom. I would organize the materials and create any needed props to be used during testing, this would include using software like Photoshop, Power point, Microsoft Word, and Excel. On the day of testing I worked with the evaluations team to evaluate the programs and would later help to make any changes to the programs that were deemed necessary. I was also responsible for acquiring and storing any props or materials required for the programs. I created post and pre-program resources that would be available to teachers who booked a program at the museum, this required consulting the Quebec and Ontario curriculum to find links. In addition, I assisted in the evaluation of both programs once they were launched in October, 2017. In my last few months at the museum I worked with one of the Learning Specialist who was planning programming for The Franklin Exhibition that will be coming to the CMH in March. I assisted in the preliminary stages of this project including brainstorming and researching different supplies to use for the programs.

Resident Advisor
-
Aug 2016 - Apr 2017
As a Resident Advisor at Algonquin College Residence I was responsible for making rounds of the building as well as sign in procedures in order to ensure the safety of the residents. As a Resident Advisor I also I planned and hosted a monthly program for residents. These programs combined education and social activity and dealt with different challenges that residents would face on their first years away from home such as consent, substance abuse, and mental health. For each of my programs I wanted students to learn about the topic presented, engage in a fun activity to reinforce the lesson, and have a take away they could reflect on later.

Museum Attendant
-
May 2016 - Aug 2016
I worked as a student at Fulford Place where I conducted guided tours of the museum for groups of up to 15 people in both official languages. Along with tours, each summer I would work with a team of students to organize two programs. I worked with the team to brainstorm ideas and create proposals for The Coordinator of Eastern Ontario sites. As part of this team, I was tasked with approaching local businesses in Brockville for donations and creating advertising for the programs; including media releases, posted, rack cards, and radio announcements. I also tested our programming ideas to ensure they would be successful. On the day of the program, I would work with the team to deliver the program.

Supervisor of Students
-
May 2015 - Aug 2015
I was the supervisor at Homewood Museum in Maitland, Ontario. My job consisted of supervising summer students and training them to give tours of the historic house. I also provided tours to the public. My team organized a number of events throughout the summer including contributing to a monthly series of programs that featured a different theme pertaining to the history of Homewood. The program I was specifically involved with was called “July with the Jones’”. The program was successful and ran 4 of the 5 scheduled times due to rain. The same year Homewood also hosted a Family Day event in which I was involved in the planning process. This included contacting performers, brainstorming activities, obtaining donations from local businesses, and executing the event.
