Held my own private practice in both online and offline modality, offering individual psychotherapy to patients presenting with a diverse set of emotional difficulties like unexplained low mood, anxiety, self harm ideation, or presenting with interpersonal difficulties like conflicts with colleagues, friends or marital issues. The idea was to generate insight and self awareness in the patients in such a way that they could understand their own chronic patterns, and help them develop greater ego strength and tolerance capacity to withstand distressing scenarios and respond to it in healthier ways. •In regards to psychotherapy, took care to take detailed intake in the first few sessions, develop some tentative hypothesis, goals, psychoeducate the patient about therapy process and my role and requirements from them in terms of structure, fees, privacy. •Regularly also sought supervision in both individual and group format, for the work I was doing in independent practice. •The work was more guided by psychoanalytic style of thinking and thus the supervision taken was also of the same orientation. •To keep myself updated with the various new formats of therapy in Psychoanalysis, like ISTDP, I also participated in 3 day webinars to enhance my skills and understanding of the dynamics of therapy. •I also joined a peer supervision group which entailed presenting one's work to one's peers to garner more Show less

The work entailed: -Individual therapy work with college going students and staff members, using an eclectic approach and relying on the principles of ISTDP, CBT, Mindfulness based techniques and a Psychoanalytic approach. -Dealt with a wide range of issues right from clearly stated emotional difficulty like anxiety, depression, self harm ideation, internal conflicts with self esteem. Additionally also responded to emotional difficulties underlying an indirect presenting issue statement such as issues in adjusting to academics, college regime, difficulty in interpersonal relationships, or any unexplained physical symptoms with no significant organic underpinning to it. -I used my clinical training in terms of taking detailed case history, developing some working understanding of the patient's difficulties, doing assessments if needed, setting up goals collaboratively with the patient, psychoeducating them about therapy and how this is different from other approaches or practices. •Provided therapy in both in person modality and online vis-à-vis video sessions. •Held group based interactions and seminars on topics like "Self compassion", "Dealing with Pandemic", "Understanding suicidality and prevention". Additionally frequently held “Listening circles” during pandemic for students to have a space to share their experiences and interact with each other. •Developed the modules and trained the interested student volunteers in basic listening skills, as part of a "Human cafe" endeavor which looked at providing the students with a non judgmental listening space where the students can be heard by their peers. •Developed the modules and trained the Psychology teachers in basic counselling skills, so they could provide a supportive space to students and also refer those in need of more intensive therapy space. • Co-authored and published a paper on the effects of Pandemic in collaboration with the colleagues from the college.
