In this internship, I was able to have a direct interaction with the patients. I got to develop my basic and advanced counselling skills, for example- rapport formation, case history taking etc. I also undertook a research project with two of my peers. It is titled- 'Understanding the relationship between stress and resilience levels amongst caregivers of cancer patients admitted in Shri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (Bangalore, Karnataka, India). In this internship, I was exposed to the functioning of a pediatric psycho-oncology setup. I also got to know about the IPD & OPD of various hospitals work. It was possible because the NGO has collaborations with various hospitals like AIIMS, Safdarjung, Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital and many more. I also went on round visits within these hospitals and observed how my mentors used to take their sessions in such a setup. Back in the office, I got to learn about various psychological tests like DAPT, CAT & TAT and about different therapies which can be done, like CBT & ACT. Show less
