I am currently a PCV in Guizhou Provence in China working as a University English Teacher at Guizhou Normal College. It is my responsibility to educate hundreds of eager Chinese students, many of them from the countryside, in Oral English as well as Listening Skills and other future classes. I am co-running an English Corner and founding the first English Language Library in the area. I fill out grants, work with students one-on-one, and facilitate culture exchanges on a daily basis. It is a difficult, but immensely gratifying experience to be working towards mutual understanding and cooperation with the people of China. Show less

As a PYM, I had my own classroom of 15 students that I was responsible for. I worked solely with under-achieving incoming freshman. The goal was for them to receive enough support to make it through their initial year at Wayne and have the ability to carry themselves through the remainder of their education at a university. In addition to holding classroom sessions, I had set hours throughout the week for homework help, field trips, office hours, and time for interpersonal mentoring and assistance. Show less
