      Being a Platoon Chief (Senior Enlisted Advisor) was one of the greatest and most rewarding responsibilities of my career. I was fortunate to have learned from seasoned SEAL operators.       After three consecutive combat deployments, I was assigned to Basic Underwater Demolition / SEAL (BUD/S) Training for instructor duty. These were some of the best years of my career. When I went through BUD/S I admired my instructors. These were battle tested “Frogmen” who represented the finest in the SEAL community. They were who I was aspiring to be. Our goal at BUD/S was to assess and select exceptional candidates with the willingness to continue on advanced SEAL training in order to transform them into prospective SEAL graduates.       In order to get closer to my goal of becoming a Navy SEAL, I became an Aviation Ordnancemen (AO), which was a Navy SEAL source rate. Prior to the establishment of the Navy SEAL rating in 2006, members of the SEAL Teams would be made up of qualified volunteers from other source ratings. As an AO stationed in the USS Ronald Reagan my responsibilities included inspecting, maintaining and repairing the aircrafts mechanical and electrical armament/ ordnance systems. I was promoted after one tour in the western pacific for the upkeep and maintenance of 400 various aircraft armament equipment and 1,000 pieces of single hoist ordnance loading systems, resulting in a ready-for-issue rate of 98 percent and a workable backlog of virtually zero. Before I ventured into that journey I found myself stationed in Tinker Air Force Base, OK, as the youngest supervisor to lead a 12-person team in the safe takeoff and landings of multi-million dollar military aircrafts. I was responsible for the daily maintenance, testing, and upkeep of E-6B Mercury Aircrafts. I performed pre-flight, post-flight, and turnaround inspections prior to handing over my assigned aircraft to the pilots. I trained and supervised 14 sailors in airfield operation duties resulting in the qualification of 9 Airfield Operations Specialists. Duties included coordination between maintenance personnel, dispatching, using airfield landing aids, and implementing airfield safety procedures.
