The Health and Road Safety division aims to reduce traffic fatalities by making the physical environment safer for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as promoting the use of mass transit. Other initiatives also include improving public health through increased physical activity and active transportation, as well as finding solutions to improve air quality. • Coordinate administrative and project activities for the Health & Road Safety program within EMBARQ • Managed a road safety data collection project in Arequipa, Peru, supporting staff in the field, and coordinated with consultants. The project aims to improve the availability of traffic crash data to help inform comprehensive road safety strategies. • Assist in developing workplans, budgets, proposals, workshops and reports. • Organized two day workshop on non-motorized transport research needs in low- and middle income countries. • Coordinated and traveled to two road safety workshops in Mexico City, Mexico and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Workshops trained internal and external members in concepts of safe urban development and transportation planning. • Support projects with research and data collection. • Steward a $30M multi-year grant, coordinating with teams in different countries as well as communicate directly with foundation director. • Coordinate and prioritize multiple projects at the same time, while meeting deadlines. • Directly interact with Program Director, COO, and country office directors on a daily basis. • Assist in managing the division when program manager is out-of-office. • Insure division meets budgetary targets on a quarterly basis.
