    • Hospitality
    • Cafe Manager
      • Feb 2011 - Nov 2011

This role, as Cafe Manager marked my return to hospitality after well over a decade working in other industries. My love of coffee and experience as an AASCA competition judge, coupled with a passion for food & delivering exceptional customer service is what led me back. I was mainly responsible for delivering all aspects of front of house service, as well as ensuring the rest of the waiting team were meeting standards set by myself and the business owner. I also spent considerable time training the barista team, establishing standards for the production and output of our espresso based drinks. Building an ever closer relationship with our coffee supplier we selected and installed new equipment and worked out an aging cycle for our custom blend that saw us always using coffee that was at it's peak. Unfortunately, I was made redundant from the business when the owner sold his other restaurant and returned to Plunge to manage it himself Show less

    • Regional Sales & Business Development Manager
      • Sep 2001 - Jan 2011

I enjoyed a long and varied career with Sony, always working within their Business Solutions Division (BSD). This is a specialised business unit that offers highly technical stand alone products as well as fully integrated solutions across a variety of products & industries. My responsibilities changed and grew over time, starting as a Sales Coordinator working in support of the BSD indirect sales team and finishing as a Regional Manager responsible for all aspects of direct and indirect sales and business development in NSW and the ACT. As you can see from the table above, I held a number of positions within the business and consequently developed a varied skill set. It was at Sony that I discovered a passion for training staff. Whether it was how to use the latest equipment or improving their sales skills, I thoroughly enjoy sharing my knowledge & passions with others. I was able to develop high level negotiation skills that allowed me to successfully close orders both large and small. This also meant I was able to manage and meet sales targets and budget requirements with ease. Again, my passion for exceptional customer service saw me take on additional responsibilities on a regular basis that involved liaising with local senior management & senior management across a number of international territories to execute special trips and factory tours for Australian customers Show less
