    • Data Integration Coordinator, Eagle Ford Development Pilots
      • Jun 2012 - Jan 2015

ConocoPhillips had committed to a develop a multi-billion barrel position in the Eagle Ford that was expected to become the key legacy asset for the company. The asset team had committed to spending more than $100MM on scientific pilots and data acquisition that would be used to inform the optimal development strategy. I accepted a new role as Data Integration Coordinator tasked with making sure all these data were available and able to be fully integrated into the evolving development plan. Many of these data were delivered in non-standard formats, there were no tools to visualize them, or we simply were not sure what they were telling us. I led an software and database team that was resourced to develop data handling, visualization, and analysis tools specific to the subsurface data we were acquiring. We ended up making significant contributions to the development plan and to the scientific understanding of the field. There were at least two innovative contributions that influenced how similar work was done in the company for many years following. The first was the use of an Agile project management to succeed in an environment that could not be pre-planned, and the use of modern tools such as Spotfire to deliver self-service and/or guided analytics.I was also very fortunate to be able to work with all these data myself and quickly developed a very good understanding of how these shale plays were actually working.
