Creating exhibits is truly what I find fulfilling. The nuts and bolts of crafting a visitor experience, planning stories and flow, and curating really excite me. In 2022, I managed the development of an exhibit called Forging Ahead and Falling Behind: Industrial Growth in a Rural Community. The exhibit presents the pros and cons of industrialization through the eyes of 8 individuals in a small 19th century town. Guiding Questions lead visitors through the exhibit where they are invited to consider how those historical effects apply to them today. The exhibit was issued an Award of Excellence by the American Association for State and Local History.Another side of my job was developing programs like Do It Yourself (DIY) History. DIY History is currently the core of the site’s programming and education. Our entire model is interactive. Experiencial. As we teach history, changes in technology, and science, learners engage in historical activities, creating a more memorable and effective learning experience. Show less
