Accomplishments • Cultivated and engaged the organization’s internal audience as the AFL-CIO’s first employee whose primary focus and priority are communicating with the labor family in every industry. • Covered President Biden’s speech at the 2022 AFL-CIO Convention. • Interviewed Danny Glover for a piece about union members and Black History Month. • Launched a co-branded educational resource campaign with the American Federation of Teachers at the start of the pandemic to help union members who were teaching their kids at home. • Led on planning and executing major events, including six virtual District Meetings in 2021 and a memorial service for former AFL-CIO President John Sweeney. Accomplishments • Retained 99.8% of our union members following the Supreme Court’s attempt to gut public service unions. • More than two-thirds of the union’s endorsed candidates won their races over three election cycles. • Successfully lobbied to remove our white-collar members at the Public Safety Building from the City of Rochester’s proposal for a Police Accountability Board. • Revamped and developed a new membership database system to track our membership numbers and stay in communication with members across the state.
