  A typical day for me includes working closely with sales and customer service representatives as well as upper management to provide accurate and detail oriented estimates to their clients. As projects and requests come in to the facility, it is my responsibility to engineer the production process from start to finish and in-turn, I'm able to provide detailed pricing. Along with estimating, I also handle purchasing responsibilities. This includes all paper orders for offset printed jobs as well as digital stocks for our digital press room. I work closely with paper vendors to make sure my purchase orders are correct and the pricing is accurate and competitive. Some other areas of purchasing include buyouts of outsourced jobs (ie. jobs that we may not be able to complete internally). While we strive to produce as many jobs in-house, we do have the occasional need to have an approved vendor complete projects for us. All this is done and made possible through EFI Pace software, which allows me to not only estimate from entered specs, but transition the job workflow from Estimate to Job Planning to Purchasing. Our schedulers use the data from within Pace to determine the schedule from proofing to press-time to bindery and shipping or mailing. This is enabled by the standards that are implemented in Pace and engineered at the estimate level.

  I currently work as an Estimating Specialist at Fineline Printing Group in Indianapolis, IN. My daily routine involves maintaining a CRM database with RFQ's submitted by sales reps and customer service reps. From the CRM database, my responsibility is to generate a print quote, with accurate and competitive pricing, for our sales reps and CSR's to pass along to the customers. I also verify the most efficient layouts for projects using Metrix. Metrix gives me the availability to double-check that I am getting the most out of the equipment at Fineline. The layouts that I generate can also be uploaded to our pre-press department as their template for customer files.
