Through my participation in the Thames Water Work Experience program, I have had the privilege of acquiring a vast amount of knowledge and skills. However, I find myself particularly drawn to the chemistry and engineering aspects of the program, which have captured my imagination and interest in a most compelling way. This particular facet of the program has resonated with me profoundly, as it seamlessly blends together my intense passion for both chemistry and physics. I was thrilled to see how these two disciplines converged in the context of the Thames water industry, where they are utilized in real-world applications, such as water analysis and sewage treatment. Learning about the water cycle and the pivotal role of water engineers in these processes proved to be both fascinating and enlightening. As a hostess at Hawkyns Restaurant, my role was to provide a warm and welcoming environment for guests. I was the first point of contact for guests as they arrived, and I was responsible for greeting them, checking their reservations, and guiding them to their tables. During busy periods, I managed the waiting list, estimated wait times, and ensured that guests were informed of any delays. I also assisted with seating arrangements and coordinated with the kitchen and servers to ensure that tables were turned over efficiently. Another important aspect of my role was to answer guest queries, provide recommendations, and handle any concerns or complaints in a polite and professional manner. I also assisted with my reservations, and managed the booking system. My role as a hostess required excellent communication skills, a friendly and positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
