  Zocalo has blessed me with the opportunity to gain experience in the restaurant industry. As a table assistant, I am an essential part of how smooth the restaurant flows. I aid the servers with small tasks and attend to the guests’ needs. These tasks include bringing complimentary appetizers to the table and cleaning off tables. As a host, I book reservations, seat guests, organize to-go orders, and communicate with other staff. I use a system called Open Table to book reservations for our guests. Working as a server has given me the opportunity to use my efficient communication skills with guests that come into the restaurant. I assist them with using our mobile ordering system called, Toast.   During my internship with Eli Lilly, I trained under Lilly professionals for three weeks where I learned the history of the company, employee conduct, product knowledge, fed state within the anatomy, pathophysiology, medical professionalism, sales delivery, and the use of company software. After training, I shadowed Territory Managers for a week in the Sacramento, CA territory. From these shadow days, I learned how to best engage with providers and office staff. I also gained an understanding on how to use the softwares that will set up Territory Managers for daily success. I learned best practices on how to pre-call plan using Tableau and VEEVA. I submitted expense reports through Concur. I reviewed product trends and conducted a business analysis using Tableau. Following shadow week, I was in the Sacramento territory calling on providers and offices alone. I was spearheading business meals and snacks with office staff and providers. I was responsible for my own company car and company credit card. I networked with different Business Directors from across the nation. Lastly, I presented a Capstone project to my overseers and Area Vice President. The Capstone project consisted of my experience during the internship, a 30/60/90 day action plan, and my contribution to the team, which were my studies on the communication theory of identity, and how we can apply those teachings to indirectly advocate for type 2 diabetes patients.
