  The Smile Express is a pediatric dental and orthodontics office, providing specialized dentistry for children and adolescents in a child-friendly environment. The practice features state of the art equipment with digital X-rays, and is a paperless office.The office focuses on preventative care to help infants, children and teens grow a healthy smile that will last a lifetime. Interning at a pediatric dental office has allowed me to understand standard office protocol and policy that must be applied when working with dental treatment plans, insurance information, and scheduling. Communication with patients regarding procedures and financial planning is a critical aspect of my work and through it I am able to apply my background in health education to dentistry. Acquiring knowledge about various types of treatment and dental insurances has exposed me to the business side of dentistry and I have learned how each patient presents a different case both inside and outside of the operatory. •Checked in patients according to office protocol, verified and updated patient information and managed recall and inactive patient system •Helped explain office policy to patients and checked patient quick-fill list to try to fill in cancellation and no-show appointment times •Prepared financial treatment plans and presented plan options to patient at end of their appointment •Checked and verified insurance information and eligibility for patients and recorded breakdowns, and explained the same to patients/ guarantor before appointments •Some dental assisting work •Worked with management to perform office marketing focused activities, including meeting with pediatrician offices and other dental offices to get more referrals •Assessed potential barriers to oral healthcare for pediatric dental patients Show less

  Smile Dental Care is a general dentists office devoted to comprehensive and preventive patient care. It specializes in crowns, bridges, cosmetic Dentistry, root canal treatment, and dental implants. As an assistant I would directly participate in patient care and perform laboratory and office duties. I learned about the steps and dental instruments necessary for various procedures in order to assist the dentist; I utilized my knowledge of the unique purpose of every instrument to hand tools and materials to the dentist and maintain a neat and orderly work area while recognizing when the dentist would need a particular instrument during treatment. Additionally, throughout procedures I would use the suction hoses to keep patients’ mouths dry and at the end, instruct patients in proper oral hygiene. •Assisted dentist chairside with suction, fillings, and crown prep and delivery.   Kang-Lee & Janusz Pediatrics is an office which specializes in Adolescent Medicine and Pediatrics.
