  As an Assistant Editor (Politics and Sociology), Academic and General Division, I have worked on over 30 books (hardbacks, paperbacks, reports, short introductions) at various stages of production. My work involved: • Coordinating with the author/editor at different stages of production to incorporate their changes to the text and get their approval for the cover design • Preparing instructions for freelance copy-editor(s)/proofreader(s), checking the copy-edited/proofread manuscript, and providing feedback to the freelancer • Preparing the manuscript for typesetting, rectifying inconsistencies in style and typographical errors, and checking the Camera-Ready-Copy before sending them for printing • Preparing a brief for the designer to create cover options for the book • Writing blurbs and coordinating with the publicity and marketing departments for content to generate advance publicity for upcoming books • Budgeting for the expenses to be incurred during the production stage of the book • Ensuring that all paperwork including agreements, permissions, author information, and publicity material for a project was in place according to the deadlines Show less

  As an Editorial Intern I worked on both the Marg quarterly magazine as well as books. My work involved assisting in editing the text, coordinating with contributors for submission of articles and maintaining lists of articles and images received, working with the design department for quality checking of images received, data compilation for printing, proofreading, and writing blurbs for The Marg Foundation’s website and material for promotional leaflets.
