I highly recommend anyone working in Sales, to leverage Russ’ knowledge and perspective to step change their personal or team performance. I have over 20 years of Sales experience working in high performing environments across diverse industries. And in all the roles I have worked, Sales Leaders and Innovators like Russ are far and few between. I worked directly with Russ from July 2014 through to February 2017, reporting to Russ for 10 months in his capacity as Sales Director. During this time Russ enabled me to earn more in a financial year, than I have yet been able to, to date. I worked as a Sales Consultant in a multinational Digital Marketing business for 4 years prior to Russ’ leadership. The sales team evolved from around 7 when I joined in a small business start-up environment, to a corporate Sales team of 22 at its peak. When Russ was appointed NZ Sales Director, I was one of eight in the Sales Team, morale was low and sales performance had been consistently below target, inconsistent and revenue of the business had suffered continuous decline. Most of the team before Russ started were considering other opportunities for employment. Apart from one colleague leaving on maternity leave and another resigning due to personal issues, Russ changed the attitude and motivation of the team for the better, enabling each of us with our varied personalities to achieve close to or exceed the stretch goals we developed under his tutorship. By the time Russ took to a new challenge, customer retention had significantly improved and revenue had grown consistently month on month, for the first time in over 12 months. Russ is an empowering leader, enabling individuals to develop themselves in a way traditional methods take considerable time. Russ optimised my sales performance - helping me outperform my traditional sales metrics, in a fun, positive and dynamic way. Russ ultimately challenges convention to drive exceptional outcomes.
