Provincial Editor and Ottawa-Based Parliamentary Reporter
-
Nov 2016 - Present
I lead the legislative bureau of the province’s largest daily newspaper, assigning a team of four stationed inside the New Brunswick legislature, but now from Ottawa. I do that while delivering my own enterprising copy daily, providing a New Brunswick slant to national stories and keeping the Atlantic region’s MPs to account. My work is predominantly politics and policy, derived from access to information requests, court documents, cultivated sources and a want to work longer and harder than others. Show less

Provincial Editor, Fredericton Legislative Bureau Chief
-
Mar 2014 - Nov 2016
Promoted to lead the legislative bureau, I was charged with charting the news direction of the A Section of the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal. My team won a National Newspaper Award for local reporting, the Canadian Journalism Foundation CJF Jackman Award for excellence in journalism, and a Michener Award nomination for a deep dive into daycare inspections while I held the role. My efforts were focused on providing interesting daily political reporting that routinely drummed up exclusives.
