Captioning Assistant
-
Jun 2021 - Mar 2022
CapTel provides real time captions (similar to the closed captioning you see on TV) for individuals with hearing loss. A Captioning Assistant (CA) is the person who provides these real time captions. CAs listen to one part of a phone conversation and repeat exactly what they hear into a state-of-the-art speech recognition application that transforms the CA’s words into text. The text captions appear in a display screen on our clients’ phone. In other words, instead of typing out captions, CAs use speech recognition technology. The result? Accurate captions for our clients to read if they have trouble hearing what the other person says over the phone.
