I have admired Claire Gibbons' career path since before relocating to Charleston from New York in 2012, and have had the pleasure of working with her on the Charleston Open Source Council through the Charleston Regional Development Alliance for many years since. We have collaborated on many initiatives that brought national / global focus to the growing Charleston (Tri County Region) tech sector in support of the industry's workforce development. As a woman in leadership, Claire has always been an inspiration. Exceedingly articulate, she can convey very complex issues with simplicity & poise - consistently engaging diverse business & community stakeholders across a wide range of industries. Deeply resourceful, Claire is able to find connections that bring exponential benefit to everyone concerned. As an advocate, Claire is a masterful 'opportunist'. as evidenced by the significant media attention she garnered for initiatives I have been a part of that resulted in personal tweets of acknowledgement and support from Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google & Mike Sievert COO of T-Mobile. I can also thank Claire for my (finally LOL) having been quoted in the New York Times in an article she was instrumental in having written about the Charleston tech sector and our company's innovative office space. We have also shared a passion for service in the nonprofit community helping to bring resources for a greater quality of life to more people in our region. A fierce & tireless fighter for marginalized communities, she is one of the most determined and persistent people I have ever encountered. Claire has an indomitable spirit that will carry through whatever she endeavors to achieve, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to learn from her.

I have known Claire Gibbons for nearly six years since moving to Charleston. We have worked together on initiatives to bring about true and honest conversations around equity and inclusion in the corporate industry as well as other community-based events bringing diverse professionals together. Claire was also honored by my organization, YWCA Greater Charleston as a 2019 #WhatWomenBring Honoree in the Media category. At YWCA Greater Charleston, our dual mission is to empower women and eliminate racism. Our annual #WhatWomenBring Awards recognize women who have made significant professional contributions and whose work in our community exhibits a commitment to our mission. This award receives nominations from the community and a committee of YWCA board and staff along with community members select the honorees. It was indeed a privilege to honor Ms. Gibbons in that way. Her leadership, drive, and honesty is commendable. I look forward to seeing her continue to make her mark and a difference in her community.
