M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a special interest in Thermal Fluids Systems at Colorado School of Mines, supported by a NASA Space Technology Research Fellowship. My thesis investigated the capability of proton-conducting ceramics as a Sabatier-Electrolyzer to synthesize methane and oxygen for Mars fuel production. The fellowship included a yearly 10 week Visiting Technologist Experience (VTE). The VTE allowed me to perform research at a NASA center in collaboration with a NASA collaborator. Colorado School of Mines – Fuel Cell Center, August 2017 – August 2019: Successful Master’s thesis report and defense presentation based on synthesis of methane and oxygen for Mars fuel production using fuel cell proton-conducting ceramics Performed hands-on build and testing at high temperatures between 350-650 C Generated process flow and wiring diagrams, and developed detailed test plans Built test fixtures integrating flow of inert and flammable gases, heating elements, gas chromatography, and NI DAQs Created LabVIEW VIs to control and automate flow controllers and data collection Designed new components and assemblies in SolidWorks Visiting Technologist Experience – NASA Space Technology Research Fellowship Kennedy Space Center, Summer 2018 and Summer 2019: Collaborated with NASA advisor to build and test methane synthesis in reactor Presented research results to NASA scientists and fellow students Show less
