We build affordable, scalable temperature sensors that record accurate temperature readings once an hour in apartments receiving inadequate heat, store the data on our servers, and provide detailed temperature logs for use in housing court. We work with tenant advocates, community organizations, and lawyers, as well as responsible landlords, nonprofit housing developers, and government officials to reform the way heating violations are dealt with in New York City. Our mission is to make New York a warmer, safer place to live for all New Yorkers. I currently facilitate all aspects of our sensor distribution by forging partnerships with community organizations and tenant advocates to ensure that our sensors go to the tenants who need them the most. We've partnered with a variety of organizations throughout the five boroughs, including the Urban Justice Center, Pratt Area Community Council, CASA, the Stuy Town-Peter Cooper Village tenants association, Fifth Avenue Committee, Carroll Gardens Association, and many others. In addition to coordinating sensor distribution, I have a hand in our fundraising and development efforts, as well as pursuing fiscal sponsorship and tax exempt status through the IRS to support our newly formed nonprofit.

I was actively involved in drafting portions of the final report, as well as providing information for sidebars and data visualizations. Show less

More than 250,000 students and their host families have benefited from the support and expertise of YFU. The YFU global network is united by the belief that full cultural immersion is the most effective means to gain the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly multicultural, interconnected and competitive global society. YFU USA helps provide opportunities for students by working in partnership with governments, corporations, foundations, schools and educators worldwide. Through creating global learning opportunities, YFU promotes international understanding and world peace. YFU has been selected to administer more government and corporate scholarships than any other high school exchange organization. As an Admissions Counselor for our Americans Overseas program, I coordinated the full cycle of the application process for approximately 300 high school students and their families, from marketing and outreach, to application facilitation and participant selection, to orientations and departure. I worked closely with corporate and government partners to administer scholarships, and with our overseas YFU partner organizations to facilitate host family and school placements for our students traveling abroad.
