  The Fashioniste is the art, fashion, and literature website of American academic author and researcher Todd Thefashioniste, who independently created the project and has been developing and maintaining it since 2006, referring to himself, in the process, as “The Premier Art-Fashion-and-Literature Synthesist of Our Time.” While being affiliated with numerous fashion blogs, the site aims to be neither a outlet for personal critical opinions or stylistic recommendations, but rather an online cultural museum of the Arts and Humanities, whose curator acts as not as a judge, but an incidental historian of style, and sets the ambitious goal of “Etymologizing the Language of Fashion, and Revealing the Creative Subconscious.” As a sort of selected visual history of aesthetics, The Fashioniste uses modern-day fashion as the site's initial and primary focal point, and weaves a far-reaching web of parallels and juxtapositions from there, comparing and contrasting works from: • current, past, and distant past fashion designers from around the world, with • painters, illustrators, and sculptors from the Medieval Era to the 20th century, then marshalling • quotations and excerpts from influential writers both ancient and modern, and tying it all together with • interview comments from fashion designers and the top working models of the day.
