Gwen is a magician. Let me explain. She appears to effortlessly produce beautiful, rich campaigns that speak to the hearts of those who asked and win over the ones who didn't. She is a rare breed of creative and tech-savvy. She can take an inkling of an idea, spin it into effective communication and seamlessly integrate it across print and digital experiences. Then make it better. She understands people. She believes that when you give someone a chance to prove themselves, they will. And that is why her students highly recommend her and land successful careers of their own after working with her. She understands the difference between a good product and a great product. She has a moral compass. She doesn't just get the job done, she finds the right and good way to get the job done. She is a fantastic listener and communicator. She will make you laugh. How does she do all of it? I don't know; a magician never reveals her tricks.

Few people ever have the opportunity to report to a manager who is also a mentor and friend, but I did when I worked for Gwen. I was fortunate enough to work with Gwen for two years in the UC Marketing Office at the University of Montana. She is a ridiculously talented designer! She has the innate ability to lead students without stifling their interests, which should never go unnoticed. Not to mention, her sense of humor always had everyone in the office laughing. She is talented, driven, and has had a tremendous impact on my professional career. I miss working with her every day!
