I lead a team of digital-first local government, politics and education reporters; edit stories for grammar, content and SEO; and write newsletters and stories as needed. I led the award-winning newsroom of the Salisbury Post, which publishes a newspaper five days per week, a website that receives around 1.4 million views per month and a community magazine. I coached reporters; wrote stories, editorials and opinion columns; took photos; designed and proofed pages; managed finances and anything necessary to ensure we published high quality news products. The State Journal
-
Frankfort, Kentucky
-
Managing Editor
-
Oct 2017 - Dec 2018
I led a newsroom of six in Kentucky's capital city in producing The State Journal, named the state's best midsize daily newspaper for 2017 and the second-best for 2018, and FRANK. Magazine, a monthly community magazine covering Frankfort and Franklin County. During my time there, we launched well-received redesigns of our newspaper and magazine, too. In addition to managing the newsroom and representing the State-Journal in the community, I wrote news articles on an as needed basis, weekly opinion columns and unsigned editorials. I also designed the daily newspaper, monthly magazine and other publications as well as capturing photos on an as needed basis, too. Show less
