David is an absolute pleasure to work with. He is organised, creative, methodical and an excellent team player. David successfully oversaw a major shift in brand identity for this small charity whilst we worked together, which was delivered on time, to budget, and with flair. I cannot recommend him enough.

During my two years at Greenwich Dance, I reshaped the organisation's marketing strategy, repositioning marketing and audience insight as a central function of the business. I led all campaign marketing for the organisation, including print production and distribution, digital marketing, budgeting, audience segmentation, direct marketing, and PR. In line with Greenwich Dance’s collaborative way of working, I worked closely with artists and producers to ensure that marketing campaigns were complementary to the artist's work, and aligned with their artistic vision. During my time at Greenwich Dance, I instigated a major change in the use of digital marketing, analytics and market research to provide valuable insight for the whole organisation, influencing decision making and programme strategy. I have experience in recruiting and line managing staff, offering guidance, support and training to a paid Marketing and Communications Intern (2016), and to a team of 5 part-time reception staff. I was part of the small team that managed the BBC Proms annual season launch, including launch logistics, artist liaison, photography and producing a promotional film. During the BBC Proms 2015 season itself, I worked to manage positive publicity for a number of events, as well as managing the press desk for dozens of events within an 8-week period. I worked with journalists and producers on national radio stations, national newspapers and key magazines, managing interview requests and providing briefings for key journalists and artists. Much of my work involved working to tight deadlines, and working with high-profile artists and executives.

I was responsible for the organisation's communications strategy, proactively seeking media coverage to promote varied activity to a wide audience. I managed a number of key relationships with regional, national and industry journalists, and acted as a first point of contact to the media. In addition I also managed the Orchestra's social media accounts, online activity, internal communications and stakeholder communications, as well as leading on defined marketing campaigns for the Orchestra and Chorus. I represented the BBC regularly at high-level corporate events and receptions, and managed the BBC's front-of-house presence at the Orchestra and Chorus's concerts, on a rota basis with the rest of the marketing team. In addition to my classical music specialism, I worked on a number of pan-BBC events including: - working on a press launch for Strictly Come Dancing in 2013 - assisting media at the Doctor Who World Tour in Cardiff in 2014 - managing media, guests and talent at the Wales Sport Awards 2013 and 2014 - providing publicity and marketing support for BBC Cardiff Singer of the World in 2011 and 2013, and launching their new website in 2015 - managing VIPs and media at BBC Proms in the Park in Wales, every year from 2011-2014. As part of my continuing professional development, I worked in the BBC Radio 3 and Classical Music TV publicity team for a two-week placement; and have also shadowed BBC Radio Wales production teams as a researcher. I also occasionally worked on other BBC Cymru Wales TV and radio projects as required. In March 2015 I left BBC NOW to work with the BBC Proms and BBC Performing Groups publicity team - initially on a 9-month secondment.

Feb 2010 - Jun 2011
Whilst studying for my MA, I worked part-time in BBC National Orchestra of Wales's in-house Audience Line, which aims to offer exceptional customer service to our audiences. This position introduced me to the work of the Orchestra, as well as interacting with audiences on a daily basis.

A month-long placement in the Communications department, arranged as part of my MA course in Arts Management. This gave me a valuable insight into the marketing and communications of the London-based period orchestra.
