I met Richard during his tenure as a 1st year AmeriCorps member. I was immediately drawn to his can-do spirit, collegiality, commitment to service and to our students and his ability to find humor and some of the toughest of circumstances. Richard was known for his jokes as a way to connect with struggling students and to peers who were having a difficult time adjusting to the school environment and rigor of service. Richard is reflective, coachable and agile and possesses a high level of self awareness and self management, social emotional competencies needed in any career.
