      I was selected from almost 50,000 applicants nationally to join a national teacher corps of 3,500 recent college graduates and professionals who commit 2 years to teach in under-resourced, low-income public schools. Over a 6 week training period, I developed skills and knowledge to achieve significant gains in bridging the education inequity gap. Additionally, I taught summer school Teach for America's Summer Institute at KIPP Scholar Academy in South Los Angeles. While training in the classroom, I also engaged in a full schedule of professional development activities, discussion groups, fundraising events, readings, and individual reflections to grow in my particular teaching area.

It consists of a three part orientation; Open House in the spring, Summer Orientation and Week of Welcome (WOW), the week prior to classes beginning. Additionally, I led multiple groups of 30-40 students during a day and half orientation.
